Blind BJJ Fighter Reminds Me of Nick Newell Fighting with One Arm: Fan Reaction

Being blind doesn’t stop Shannon “Shane” Cantan from practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu. Reporter Kristine Leahy from FOX25 in Boston, interviewed Shane and filmed him training BJJ. Follow this video link and watch Shane make his way to class on the subway or the “T”, as we call it in Boston. Plus, he’s shown training with fellow students, Kenny “Tudo” Bailey and Javier. Professor Keith Florian, who is the brother of UFC fighter, Kenny Florian, is his chief coach and is also shown on the video.

What makes Shane so special?

There are still many people in my world who really don’t understand why I love MMA and the individual skill sets that make up mixed martial arts–Brazilian jiu jitsu and striking. I can’t wait to show them all this featured story about Shane Cantan, one of my fellow fight family members from Florian Martial Arts in Brookline, MA.

Shane is originally from Hawaii. He claims UFC fighter, BJ Penn, who is Hawaiian, to be his favorite UFC fighter.

Kenny Florian, another well-known and seasoned UFC fighter, is his second favorite. That’s important to mention because Shane lives in Boston now and trains at Kenny Florian’s school.

Congrats to NAGA Competitors – 303 Training Center

BIG CONGRATS to all the 303 competitors, coaches, teammates, and everyone who has been apart of this on growing 303 Training Center family! From the Coaches and crew, right down to the kids and their parents, it has been an honor to grow as a family and team with so many great people and honorable characters. The time is RiGhT! It’s Official – Professor Ludwig has fastest UFC Knockout!

Watch UFC President Dana White as he puts to rest the issue of fastest knockout in UFC history and awards it to Professor Duane BANG Ludwig of 303 Training Center! Dana White and Craig Borsari put an end to the Fastest UFC Knockout debate as they break down three candidates with time-coded footage. Congrats to Professor – he clearly deserves the honor after a timekeeping mistake during the fight.

Brazilian Culture Night at Hunters Glen a Huge Success!

Big thanks to everyone that came out last night and joined us during “Brazilian Culture Night” at Hunters Glen Elementry School. More Info	Please attend our Fall Belt Promotion. This is an important day for a select few students and coaches.As you know, belts and stripes are not nearly as easy to come by in our sport as they may be in other martial arts. It requires a lot of dedication, practice and patience to advance. This is why it’s important that when we have a belt promotion, you attend to support your fellow students and teammates.Who’s getting promoted? Only Professor Correa knows. We’re going “old school” in that nobody knows so everyone needs to show up! We look forward to seeing you. It’s going to be a big day.

Brazilian Culture Night at Hunters Glen Elementry School – Friday 9-30-11

Bring the whole family and join us this Friday evening for “Brazilian Culture Night” at Hunters Glen Elementry School!!! We are going to show the kids and families attending, what Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is in it’s full glory! How shall we do this? By putting on live BJJ matches between our very own 303 BJJ students of course!!!

This event will be held outdoors in front of many spectators!!! Let Tony know if you want to compete and who you would like it to be against. If your match up is picked and you win… Free 303 Shirt and private lessons from the Coach of your choice! Spots are very limited since there will be only one match going on at a time. This is all in good fun of course! Please let me know in person who you would like to compete against… Sooooo… LET THE MATCH MAKING BEGIN!!!

Matches will held between 5:30-7:00

Location: Hunters Glen Elementary School
(Weather permitting, the movie will be shown behind the building, between the school and the mobiles)

Arrive early so you don’t miss the wonderful live performances from 5:00-7:00pm. In partnership with our sponsors the PTO will provide the main entrée but we would encourage you to learn about the Brazilian culture and bring side dishes from the region. Be creative; make it fun and just GOOGLE it! As such, we would appreciate you labeling your dish with any notations for potential peanut allergies,
